During the last week of November, the leadership group came together for the time of planning and strategy development. The main goal of the movement that has Billy Graham and John Stott as founders is Connecting influencers and ideas for global mission.
Evghenii represents Moldova in the steering committee. The meeting was held in the suburb of Moscow at Zelenograd Baptist Church.
The group was joined by the global leaders of Lausanne discussing the key networks and focus groups as well as development of the Russian speaking segment of the global movement, since Russian is one of eight official languages of the movement. One of the biggest upcoming events is the Buisness as Mission gathering in June 2019 in Manila. Other topics included evangelism through rehabilitation, persecuted church, theological education, leadership development, role of social media in evangelism, etc.
Below is a short video report on this meeting for the Russian speaking evangelical community. The first Sunday of December, Imago Dei church celebrated the baptism for the first time. Dr. Rich Davis, who serves as professor in the Christian university, officiated the baptism. Sasha comes from a home broken by alcoholism and is a part of our NGO (Strong Foundation) for boys like him that operates under the umbrella of the Imago Dei Church. Sasha is a freshman at Moldova Bible Seminary. He trusted Christ earlier this year and was anxiously awaiting the opportunity to be baptized. His unsaved grandfather came to the baptism and it was a blessing to minister to the family. Please pray that Sasha would continue to grow in wisdom and the knowledge of Christ. He is already a faithful servant in the church. This church plant is one of four churches in the process of planting as a part of strategic partnership of KBC Ministries and Community Bible Church (San Antonio, TX). by Dr. Royce Smith, San Antonio, TX My time at the Moldova Seminary was a real eye opener. Coming from friendly Texas, I was surprised by the lack of response I received from many residents as I made my way around the community. When I smiled or waved at them, they would look at me and then keep on walking. I asked the students why this was happening and they explained to me that for adults who had lived almost their entire lives under Soviet oppression, there was little to smile about. Anyone who smiled was obviously 'not from around here' or was probably untrustworthy. Added to this, I learned that evangelical Christians were considered far outside the norm and are often treated as a cult. It would seem that evangelism would be nearly impossible... and then I saw the genius of what the Seminary is doing. They are preparing the best and brightest of young hearts and minds toward reaching the children and youth of Moldova, the only generation that is readily open to the Gospel. As the children and youth are reached, they can more easily share with their skeptical parents, and the Gospel can break through many decades of oppression, persecution and darkness. The Seminary and its associated ministries offer a wide variety of worship venues in multiple languages, through several church plants. It also offers after school and weekend clubs for children and youth that engage them in many fun and educational ways. When parents see others investing in and loving their children, hearts begin to soften and doors for spiritual conversations begin to open. Through the teaching of the ministry staff, and visiting pastors and professors, the students are challenged and prepared for real world ministry. My week in Moldova has opened my heart and eyes to the great work being done here and the need for continued prayer and financial support. I encourage you to get behind this movement in whatever way God impresses on your heart. These are godly, committed men and women who want to reach their country for Jesus, and your support can help them further this biblical mandate.
Since during the summer hundreds of young children get to hear good news, many respond to the message of the Gospel. Throughout the year the church organizes weekly Bible studies. Alinarea church has been actively developing this in connection with the church plant. From January to May there was one group meeting weekly. But since September of 2018 there are now two groups led by Alinarea Bible Church volunteers. Alinarea from Romanian is traslated as solace, comfort, relief. This church plant is one of four churches in the process of planting as a part of strategic partnership of KBC Ministries and Community Bible Church (San Antonio, TX). Part of the vision of both congregations is planting missional churches. The Moldova partnership is targeting key cities and towns across Moldova with the goal to creatively reach out to the ends of the earth. We are very grateful for this partnership in the Gospel with a huge potential for the kingdom of God.

During October visit to USA Evghenii had an honor sharing at First Baptist Church Belton, TX. The church is a strategic partner of KBC Ministries in outreach through camps and training of the new leaders for the harvest. During the first part of the trip in October, Evghenii and Irina took a part in Global Summit of Scottsdale Bible Church. It was wonderful week with the body of SBC. There was an opportunity to connect with friends and partners in ministry as well as make new friendship and connections.
Teaching at MBS is a genuine delight. The staff are helpful and the students are bright and eager to learn. I taught Christian Ethics, and though challenging for the students, they were up to the tasks and all did well, particularly studying something which stretched their English language capabilities. It is wonderful to teach students who delight in the Lord and serve Him with joy in their churches. (John Putman, T&F International, Sofia, Bulgaria) Evghenii was invited to speak at the graduation ceremony of the BMI (Bible Mission International) for those who completed the full correspondence course of thirty-five studies originally published by Moody Bible Institute. These classes are vital in training especially those who serve in rural areas. Our ministry have beed using these in prison ministry and an overall church member training.
Another great week at the Moldova Bible Seminary, as always the students were bright, and eager to learn and grow as two weeks ago we began our study of the Pastoral Epistles. It has been almost five years since my last visit and I am amazed at the progress the seminary and the church have made in such a short time. It is truly amazing and encouraging! The highlight of the week for me was hearing the students present their oral reports in class. They were insightful and well grounded in the truth of God's words. It has been a whirlwind two weeks through Paul's final letters to Timothy and Titus but well worth every minute of our time together. It was amazing to see the students reactions as they considered the great persecution and torture that Paul went through as he was writing his final letters. I'm sure this will definitely leave an indelible mark on the students lives. I cannot say enough about the quality of students at the seminary and the strength of their leadership. I anxiously await my return to Moldova and the seminary in the not to distant future. God Bless and Journey On! (by Mark Hoover, Lead Pastor, Journey Church, Killeen, TX) |
