Anastasia is a well known Russian name. It has been made known in the west through a Disney cartoon abou the Romanoff princess. In February it was also the name of three young women who gave their lives to Christ and chose to be baptized and declare their faith before their friends and family. These are truly three daughters of the King of Kings.
One of the strategic traits of our ministry is the after school program offered through our ministries and church plans. The Alinarea Church, a church plant of KBC, is very creative in offering various classes. The total foot traffic of the church per week is close to a hundred and fifty. There are at least two groups that meet for Bible study weekly. There are English classes offered to those needing help in homework preparation. Children are taught spiritual disciplines as prayer is offered at every class and event. Every activity, from Bible Studies to ESL to Art-school, includes a spiritual dimension. In the country with some of the highest migration per capita in the world, our ministry provides the very much needed adult presence in these kids lives. The time spent with the kids is an investment in their future. The ministry is constantly developing creative ways to teach and impact the upcoming generation with the Good News and help shape the future of Moldova and former USSR.
The plan was to try to reach out to forty-sixty kids that the church made an initial connection to in June. It was the last location left, and there were 125 gifts left. As we drove to the site with severity gifts, our team was wondering what to do with the leftovers. As time began to draw near to start the program, the room was full to its capacity with over seventy kids. In Moldovan culture, though, it is commonplace to be late. The place kept filling up with kids walking in. So, we decided to call the office, and one of the pastors loaded his car with all the remaining gifts. He arrived just in time by the end of the program. The room was packed. The presentation, songs, and Gospel presentation went very well. By the time we gave the care packages away in the end, we had only two left-over in our hands. God provided more care packages than that we thought was possible, and then He gave us just the right number of kids to share with and impact with the Good News.
Police and firefighters have been in the focus of KBC Ministry outreach for over thirteen years now. During January "Gift of Hope" outreach we had a wonderful opportunity to impact almost two hundred children from the families of the civil servants. Through the divine appointment, the Lord brought us to the town of Calarasi, where there is a pastor/missionary who was looking for ministry partners to serve alongside him. This particular outreach was quite special. One of KBC Ministries church plants organized the Gospel presentation for the children and their parents. KBC mother church worked on building the gifts. The local partner in town used this as an opportunity to reach out to police, fire department, and DA office, delivering the "Gift of Hope" through big presentation events and personal visits. In all, the Good News was shared with hundreds of people.
Gift of Hope is an outreach project designed to share the Good News in a form of theater and music events. It is a wonderful opportunity to speak about the greatest gift God has offered to each person - salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone. This event allows the Gospel message to shine across various venues. In this specific case ninety-eight student, some of their parent and school staff have been impacted in the town on the boarder with Ukraine. The program was presented by KBC Volunteer team and organized by the church-planter.
A group of over eighty young leaders gathered at KBC ministry center to learn about the way to have a civilized conversation with the secular world. The speaker was Dr. Thomas Woodward who is the president of C.S. Lewis Society (est. 1975 in Princeton University). Dr. Woodward is also editor of the Apologetics.org. Based on the life of "Jack" and his idea of the radio program that later became the world renowned "Mere Christianity" the seminars were an amazing opportunity to grow and learn. Part of the KBC Ministries vision is discipleship and preparation for ministry of the young leaders who will be changing their class-rooms and workplaces wi the message of the Gospel. It is a blessing to partner with Kishinev Bible Church and Moldova Bible Seminary on these special events designed to disciple the emerging generation.
During the Rethink Week organized by the IFES in the north of Moldova (city of Balti), over 120 young people from the university gathered together to hear the presentation on lines of argumentation to demonstrate a case for Intelegent Design. From astrophysics to geology to microbiology the evidence points to the grreat mind and the Designer. Dr. Woodward and Evghenii Sologubenco served together and in adition to the lecture format had an amazing opportunity to interact with numerous groups of students sharing the good news. This was an evangelistic event and we are thankful to International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (Intervarsity) for the opportunity to share. The expectation was to have approximately sixty-seventy students come to the event. It was a pleasant surprise to see over hundred and twenty people show up. It was reported that by the end of the outreach at least eight have given their lives to Christ.
Kishinev Bible Church in partnership with Moldova Bible Seminary had the opportunity to offer a series of talks on Intelligent Design for the churches and believers from across the city of Chisinau (Moldova). The seminars focused on the problems with the theory of evolution and Darwinism in particular. These problems have come to light with the new discoveries in the area of DNA and Epigenetics. Dr. Thomas Woodward is a leading historian of Intelligent Design in the world and author of a number of books on the subject-matter. The seminars offered brought together over 130 students, ministers and people who wanted a fresh look. They learned about the conversation taking place even now in science community about the limits of Darwinian theory. Dr. Woodward shared about the evidence from DNA and complexity on molecular level that point to an Intelligent Designer of life.
