Zina lives by herself, she used to go to church but it’s now too difficult to walk so she tries to go on her birthday. She is 94. When USSR took over Moldova Zina, along with over 200,000 others was sent to Siberia and worked in a concentration camp for 6 yrs where her family died. When all these people were loaded in cargo train carts it took over a month to get to Siberia. Many died on the way. A day after Stalin died she along with many others was told she can leave for Moldova. When she returned, she built a house and communist government took it away shortly. On a second occasion, she was asleep in her 2nd rebuilt home and government came and once again, took it from her. She lost her home 3 times. She is a widow. Everyone who loved her has left her. She is visited regularly by Liuba from seminary. This is a "Retro" video so to say. The video was taken and produced by Eric Odell in 1998. A team of eye surgeons came to Moldova through NorthWest Medical Teams International (www.medicalteams.org) and served the people people of Moldova.
Moldova Bible Seminary students were serving as translators and KBC members as chaplains sharing the good news and praying for those in the hospital. This is one of the stories of impact made by NWMTI and its partnership with Kishinev Bible Church in late 90s of 20th century. Original video posted by Eric Odell can be found at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCvaBeHGqRA 72% of Moldovans live below poverty level. 99% of elderly are within this 72%.
The average elderly person lives on under $1.85 per day. Unfortunately, the story of Katya is not uncommon. A team of KBC Ministries workers along with our partners is working and praying that more stories like Katya would end in a happy end "in Christ". More on this ministry outreach can be found at KBC Elderly Ministry. On this video Judy Phipps of FBC Belton is sharing the story of Katya. God changes lives one person at a time. This is a first in a series of videos telling the stories of individuals impacted through the ministry of Kishinev Bible Church. We pray Helen's story will be an encouragement and inspiration to you!
